Our Hiring Process
Applying for a job at DCA
Once you apply for a job by submitting your resume, we will contact you by email or telephone to let you know the outcome of your application. If you have not heard anything, please feel free to contact our Recruitment Administrator or the Hiring Manager nominated in the advertisement.
The DCA recruitment process may involve some or all of the following steps depending on the role that you are applying for:
For technical roles we need to ascertain if potential employees have the right technical skills and are the right fit for roles such as Developers or Database Administrators. Therefore, DCA have developed a series of in-house tests and you might be asked to complete such a test prior to progressing to the next stage which is a face-to-face interview.
Each department within DCA sets their own benchmark for successful test results based on key selection criteria for specific roles (for example typing speed or programming logic) as well as normalised group results from previous candidates.
DCA shares test results with candidates upon request.
DCA follows a behaviourally-based interview format.
This means for technical positions you will be asked to provide specific examples of your background and how you have solved technical problems.
Our interview process for business and general positions evaluate your problem solving and behavioural abilities. Remember, it’s not a question of getting the answer right or wrong, but the process you used to solve it; creativity is very important.
Virtually every person who interviews at DCA talks to at least three or four interviewers drawn from management, HR and potential colleagues. Everyone’s opinion counts and this helps us ensure our hiring process is fair while maintaining high standards as we grow.
Yes, it takes longer, but we believe it’s worth it. We find that if you hire great people and involve them intensively in the hiring process, we hire even more great people.
What happens next?
Following your interviews, DCA team members will decide if you are suitable for the job opening. Of course, in this time, you will be assessing if DCA is right for you too. We take hiring very seriously and like to make consensus-based decisions. To that end, it can take up to two weeks for us to make a definitive decision as to whether we’d like to have you join the team. In that time, please feel free to ask HR or your Hiring Manager any follow-up questions.
Please be patient with us – your Hiring Manager or HR will keep in touch with you when feedback has been received and decisions have been made. Also feel free to get in touch with your Hiring Manager or HR at any time.
